1. Acknowledge, try to understand, and listen when we speak about our experiences as black women. Don’t try to derail it. No matter how it makes you feel.
2. Stop talking down on us, making fun of our features, and just disrespecting us. I know this one seems like a long shot but it’s a huge problem.
3. Stop calling us bitter when we call y'all out on y'all shit. Don’t assume just because a black woman is acting a certain way that she has an attitude. Could be depression, anxiety, etc. Black men are quick to label black women with attitudes.
4. When you see ya black homies talking shit about black women defend us. Don’t just sit and not say anything.
5. Stop saying “not all black men.”
6. Acknowledge colorism, hyper-masculinity, misogyny, and transphobia in the black community.
7. Uplift us. Love us. Listen to us. Black women have always loved, protected, and defended black men and they rarely do the same.
8. stop making fun of dark skinned black people. Stop making fun of their features. More than anyone in the black community, dark skinned women are the most disrespected.
9. Stop thinking that just because you get a woman of a different race that she is better than black women. Date who you want but don’t bash black women cause you have issues of your own.
10. Stop telling black women that they shouldn’t wear certain types of clothing because of their bodies. I’ve noticed that heavier black women are always policed on what they should and shouldn’t wear and it’s not okay.
There are a lot more but I can’t think of any. This is just me. I’m sure some black women may agree and some won’t but these are just things that I have noticed.
